Dan The Bumper Man
Cost Effective Alternative for Minor Body Shop Repairs
MOBILE BUMPER AND MINOR AUTO BODY REPAIR TO YOUR DOOR!
I get asked a lot about what my process is. My process is exactly the same as a body shop with one exception: I do not remove the part that needs to be repaired. I mask your car off to protect it. My process allows my clients to drive the car within a few hours instead of days like body shops.
01
SURFACE PREPARATION
First, I start with cleaning/degreasing the area to be serviced. Tar, wax, tire dressing and surface contaminents are removed before any repair is done.
02
DAMAGE REPAIR AND BODY WORK
I will reshape the bumper to get the surface back to as close to factory as possible. I then apply and shape a flexible body filler to return the factory look to your car. I only use the minimum amount of filler to ensure a long-lasting repair.
03
CHEMICAL AND MECHANICAL PAINT BONDING PREP
I will scuff up the entire are being repaired to allow the new materials something to bite onto. I will also apply plastic adhesion promoter to plastic repairs then lay down 3 nice coats of primer for a solid chemical bond with the paint. Using a wet sanding technique I remove any minor surface imperfections before I spray color. A lot of people shortcut these steps to save money, but I don't!
04
FINAL SURFACE PREPARATION
In a final cleaning stage, I again go over the repair with a wax/grease remover, clean all cracks and crevices and even mask off a large barrier to prevent your car from receiving any overspray. I then wet the ground around my work area to keep dust to a minimum. I will wipe off the surface one last time with a specially-treated tack cloth just as an extra step to keep the area clean.
05
COLOR APPLICATION
I am a cerified PPG automotive refinisher. For this step, I will be applying color that I mix personally using a 75 toner set up used in high-end body shops. I have a library of over 1500 color chips to match/adjust to make your color the best possible. I have experience and training in pearls, metallics, candy coats and most recently matte/gloss reducers. Once color is applied, I use a color-corrected light to ensure coverage and color match.
06
CLEAR COAT/BLENDER APPLICATION
Depending on which option you choose, I will apply PPGs top shelf clear coat EC800. It is a clear coat infused with only the best resins available. This product exceeds every factory spec for clear coat. I am only mobile repair tech that gives a written warranty with every repair!
